Supporting Migrant Youth Training Series
This is an agency sponsored event for organizations seeking to enhance their knowledge and capacity to serve the migrant youth population. Below is an overview of the three-course series.
Course 1: Trauma-Informed Care for Latino Migrant Youth, A Social Work Perspective - Participants will explore the unique challenges faced by this population, gain an understanding of culturally informed trauma responses, and learn practical strategies for providing effective and compassionate care.
Course 2: Supporting the Educational Success of Migrant Youth - Participants will explore the barriers these students encounter, such as language acquisition, interrupted schooling, and cultural adjustment. The course emphasizes fostering resilience, promoting academic engagement, and building strong partnerships with families and educators to support educational success.
Course 3: Supporting Teenage Migrant Girls Who Are Survivors of Sexual Violence - This specialized training equips social workers with culturally sensitive tools and trauma-informed approaches to support teenage migrant girls who have experienced sexual violence. Participants will explore strategies to address cultural stigmas, build supportive networks, and connect survivors with essential resources.
Continuing Education: New Jersey licensed social work professionals will receive 6 CE's for completing the entire series.
