We’ve always been right here. In our community. Serving the needs of our neighbors. Restoring hope. One person and family at a time.
We are a local organization. We live in the community with you. Answering the need for help in a personal way. We serve people who face poverty, homelessness, mental health challenges, and substance use disorders. We provide much-needed support, including vital services and housing. We offer special support for veterans. And we’ve done this since 1985.
We commit to meeting the needs of our community, just as we always have, evolving to keep pace with the needs themselves. We believe that tangible programs, services, and housing bring hope to our communities. And that, together, we can use this hope to fuel positive change and better futures.
Mental Health Programs
Our mental health recovery programs fill a tremendous void. Since opening our first residence for young adults in 1985, we have successfully developed a full continuum of residential recovery programs for individuals struggling with such forms of mental illness as bipolar disorder, severe depression, and schizophrenia: Illnesses that have disrupted their lives and their families’ lives and left them at greater risk for repeated hospitalization and for many, the risk of homelessness. Aiding them on the path to recovery, our counselors help individuals learn to manage their illness, become more self-sufficient, and find renewed hope.
Veterans Programs
Community Hope is the leading nonprofit serving homeless veterans and families in New Jersey. We address a major underlying source of veterans’ homelessness: High rates of mental illness, trauma, and substance abuse and the challenges are increasing. Roughly half the soldiers who served in Iraq and Afghanistan have been diagnosed with mental health conditions, including one in five who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.
