Doing Hard Things: Break the Cycle of Anxiety & Avoidance
Our "Doing Hard Things" group is a weekly group that involves psychoeducation, skill-building, and emotional processing.
Courage is contagious, which is why we’ve specifically designed this therapy group for young adults who want the extra encouragement and motivation to continue on their path to doing hard things, aka exposure work!
Group is scheduled to be held on Mondays at 4pm. Please reach out to our admin team if you are interested, that way we can take into consideration your availability.
8-week commitment required.
Group Goals:
1. Increase awareness of the role avoidance and control play in maintaining anxiety.
2. Build willingness to experience uncomfortable thoughts, sensations, and emotions without acting on compulsions or avoidance.
3. Develop flexible, values-driven behavior instead of fear-driven reactions.
4. Practice exposure exercises (in and between sessions) to reduce avoidance and desensitize feared stimuli.
5. Foster group support and normalize anxiety experiences through shared practice and reflection.
Ideal Participants:
Adults experiencing OCD symptoms or phobias related to:
• Health and medical procedures
• Driving or flying
• Germs/contamination
• Specific objects or situations (e.g., blood, injections, animals, etc.)
Participants should be ready for behavioral practice and motivated for exposure-based work.
