Provides individualized and community-based wellness coaching services to promote and sustain a healthy lifestyle for people with disabilities and their caregivers.

Get FIT focuses on the concept of staying active and healthy, decreasing the risk of secondary conditions, and promoting access to community wellness and fitness programs for people with IDD and their caregivers. This is accomplished at the local level by promoting the Get FIT concept to community providers, fitness facilities and recreational centers. Such grassroots efforts have given rise to Local Get FIT County Coalitions that identify the gaps of service within the respective counties.

Get FIT continues to increase the capacity of the fitness field to serve people with IDD and the awareness of the IDD field regarding the importance of healthy lifestyles. This is accomplished with consulting and educational services for fitness professionals, health and exercise science students and direct support providers.

The Get FIT Statewide Coalition works to create a systems change that will increase the availability and accessibility of healthcare and wellness promotion services for people with IDD.

The Family Resource Network continues to advocate for Get FIT in all community and government discussions focused on health and wellness within the state of New Jersey.
