Campaign for Language & Literacy Excellence (CLLE)
(609) 771-2805
Ewing
CLLE is a New Jersey–based project run under The College of New Jersey’s Center for Sensory and Complex Disabilities that works to promote early language and literacy development in young children who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deafblind.
Curriculum & Certificate Training
CLLE, in partnership with the New Jersey Division of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DDHH), is creating a sequential training curriculum and coursework leading to a certificate for Deaf/Hard of Hearing adults serving as Deaf Language Associates. These associates support young children’s visual language development by collaborating with other providers, conducting home visits, applying evidence-based instructional strategies, managing cultural competency, and documenting progress.
Research & Evidence-Based Practice
A research team under CLLE develops and evaluates practices for promoting language and literacy in young children who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deafblind, aiming to inform and enhance statewide programs such as NJ DDHH’s Language Instruction Program.
Community Engagement & Dissemination
CLLE maintains active engagement with families, educators, medical professionals, and the deaf community through workshops, webinars, events, and informational outreach. It also shares updates on their initiatives and accomplishments to foster awareness and collaboration.
