Smart Home Technology: Supporting Independent Living for People with ID/DD

This is a virtual informational session on SimplyHome technology. This combines enabling technology and remote support to provide a helping hand right when it is needed. Home technology can recognize when something needs attention, such as when a person hasn't left for work as expected, a stove has been left on, or there is too much water on the bathroom floor. It can also be used for medication alerts and fall detection, all without the use of cameras.
Remote support staff can check in, answer a call for help, offer a reminder, or connect with onsite staff when needed.
Using technology as a support is about finding the right balance: knowing someone is there when you need them while promoting independent living.
