First, what is STEMgirls Online, you ask? It's an exciting, year-round program for girls in 4th to 8th grade. Just like a regular school class, our certified teachers lead structured, week-to-week classes that build on core concepts the students learned the week before. What makes it different and special? Every single lesson features a fun, hands-on experiment or modeling activity with all supplies included, including snacks :) So girls can immediately test out ideas and show what they know. Classes are collaborative, too, so girls work together with new friends. We also help girls catch up when they need extra help. Our curriculum is designed alongside leading scientists, aligned with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and New Jersey Learning Standards (NJSLS), with advanced topics brought down to the middle school level to excite your child. It features an exciting virtual STEM Fair with prizes at the end of each term. The program is built to boost your daughter’s academic confidence, build essential digital literacy, and have more exciting academic options when they enter high school.
**** WHAT GIRLS DO IN OUR CLASSES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR ****
Fall (Oct-Dec): Real-World Health, Life Sciences & Genetics
Girls explore human biology, genetics/genomics, and pharmacology through curriculum developed with research partners at Columbia University's Stem Cell Labs and Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Lab experiments mirror what goes on in actual, real-world science labs!
Winter (Jan-Mar): Financial Literacy & Practical Coding
Girls gain financial skills like budgeting, understanding paychecks and taxes, making spend/save choices, and exploring high-level investment strategies or finance careers. Lessons come to life with tactile modeling, like using LEGOs to visualize life goals or designing and crafting real products to code an online marketplace in Python. We show you how to safeguard earnings and watch your money grow!
Spring (Apr-Jun): Environmental Science & Local Infrastructure
Girls investigate local ecosystems and environmental conservation with interactive lab experiments, games, and virtual tours of public utilities, sewerage authorities, etc. They discover how scientific principles keep our towns running and uncover rewarding STEM career paths in their own communities.
Summer (July-Aug): Leadership, Creativity & Real-World AI
Sessions focus on interview practice, resume building, and leveraging modern tech tools to spark creative expression and build lifelong confidence.
Summer sessions focus on self-discovery and building lifelong career confidence. Girls build interview skills, craft resumes, and dive into hands-on exploration of modern AI and digital design, learning how to harness emerging technology to unleash their personal creativity and tackle real-world challenges.
WHY GIRLS AND THEIR PARENTS LOVE STEMgirls
- Real-World AI & Coding
Students gain hands-on experience in coding languages like Python while discovering how to leverage AI as a tool to enhance critical thinking and problem-solving. - STEM Mentorship
Real women working in STEM join the virtual classroom to share their stories, helping girls answer "Why do I need to learn math and science?" while inspiring them to pursue ambitious, big careers - this is like workforce development for the future generation! - Free Supplies Delivered to Your Door
All experiment supplies, learning materials, and snacks are shipped directly to your door each term. Need a device? Chromebook loans are available for $25/year.
Tuition is $125/semester, but cost should never be a barrier! Full and partial need-based scholarships are awarded to families requiring assistance. To help us safeguard funds for those who need them most, a brief application and financial verification are required during registration.
Registration takes place throughout the year, but enrollment for each semester closes a week before the semester starts (and students are placed on a waitlist when that semester is full). We are always available for phone calls, texts, or emails!
