As the organization that pioneered eating disorder treatment more than forty years ago, The Renfrew Center remains family-owned, mission-driven, independent from investor influence, and grounded in clinical excellence. Renfrew has earned the trust of families and healthcare professionals through its commitment to connection, continuity of care, clinical leadership, innovation, and proven outcomes. Across all levels of care, treatment is designed not simply to reduce symptoms, but to help patients build fulfilling lives beyond their eating disorders.
Renfrew's wide range of specialized programming is designed to meet the unique needs of diverse patient populations. Identity-based offerings include BIPOC, faith-based, midlife, and SAGE (LGBTQ+) programming, as well as services tailored to adolescents, college students, and individuals experiencing co-occurring trauma or substance use challenges. These specialized tracks create supportive environments where patients can connect with peers who share similar life experiences. Treatment incorporates creative arts therapy, occupational therapy, and other expressive therapies that provide multiple pathways for emotional processing and healing.
At the core of treatment is The Renfrew Center Unified Treatment Model for Eating Disorders, an innovative approach that combines evidence-based, emotion-focused interventions with the healing power of authentic connection. This groundbreaking model helps patients strengthen emotion regulation skills, increase psychological flexibility, develop self-empathy and self-efficacy, and build meaningful relationships. By addressing both the emotional and interpersonal factors that sustain eating disorders, Renfrew creates the conditions for lasting recovery and long-term wellbeing.
For more than four decades, Renfrew has continued to evolve through research, innovation, and clinical expertise. The experiences of thousands of alumni demonstrate what lasting recovery can make possible, reinforcing Renfrew's commitment to helping individuals move beyond illness and participate fully in life.
